Chimera Aviation

CAI were thrilled to take on their first Aviation project, having been approached by Barry Jones, managing director at Chimera Aviation at Goodwood Festival of Speed last year. Barry and his team have produced the Dragon Autogyro which is currently under constriction at Tattenhall airfield near Burton on Trent. Barry is a former military helicopter pilot and instructor and was the first person to attempt to circumnavigate the globe in an Autogyro following his successful World Autogyro Range Record in 2003.

We were asked to get involved in the design and manufacture of the monitoring instruments and have  produced a full set of gauges which reflect the character of the aircraft along with the ‘read at a glance’ simplicity of the analogue instruments. The gauges consist of An 80mm Cylinder Head Temperature Gauge which reads temperature ranges of 15-150 C (pictured right).

An 80mm Tachometer measures the Engine’s Revs Per Minute  (pictured left)and mirrors the design of the other gauges with off white dial, black print, half round aluminium bezel, fire red pointer and the distinctive Dragon Chimera Logo.

52mm monitoring gauges which measure the Ambient Air Temperature, Oil Temperature and Fuel Level complete the full set along with an 80mm Rotor Speed Instrument
